Larry,

As a general rule, fairway woods should launch higher than hybrids at the same loft. That said, everyone is different, and my real advice is for people to get fit before making any club buying decisions.

I’m trying to decide if a 7wood , 9 wood combo with the Ai Smoke Max would be a better choice than a 3 hybrid, 4 hybrid combo from TM Qi 10 Max. Lofts are similar. I play the hybrids now but I’m not getting the height I expected to hold the greens. In general would you think the FW woods are better for higher launching shots into the greens?

I’d want to test them both with the same, fitted shaft, but off the cuff I think I’d lean toward the Paradym.

I’m sure you’ve read our reviews of all three of those clubs; they’re all excellent. Our advise is always to get a fitting to find which one works best with your swing.

Hi, I’m currently trying to decide between this club in a 7W, the ping g430 max 7W, or the Taylormade qi10 max as a higher handicap golfer looking for forgiveness on off center strikes. What would be your opinion between those three please. Thanks!

Hello I’m a high 12 Handicap but I love my Callaway Ai irons & Driver stiff shaft , I use to b a Tileist guy but 1500$ + for a iron set no I pass even that I love the new T 350 . I pay 1.100$ graphite shaft Regular Stiff for my CallawayAi irons! But now I’m in love w/these Callaway! They hit longer their faces very forgiving if u are square, I think they aren’t for beginners I think Middle & Low Handicap players. Well I think Callaway did a very good job n specially for the price point! I like ur analysis good job!

I don’t think the adjustable hosel will change the performance noticeably.

Hey Matt,
I purchased the five wood and played with it today for the first time, after hitting it on the range yesterday. Performance on the range was transferable to the course, and in fact was better, probably due to better ball. Your comments on performance are “spot on!!,” easily the longest five wood I have ever played. Excellent review, I came away, first time out, with the same impressions. Confidence and affirmation (distance, easy launch, consistent ball flight, stability, etc.) is everything. I am considering the 3w after today, do you think the added weight from the adjustable housel will change performance?
