I have days where I can play with anybody but my problem is I never know who’s going to show up. I find on the good days I look at my target and make the swing no swing thoughts or anything. But most days it’s not that easy when I’ve had those good days the next round out feels like I just started. I would give anything to overcome that

I always laugh when I think of an old buddy’s advice when it gets a little frustrating on the golf course: “Lay off two weeks and then quit!”

Somebody above beat me to it. In Florida we let the weather dictate when we take a break from golf. I suppose that up north there are some forced breaks as well. I know lots of courses close for several months in many areas. Here, we get 10 days straight of rain sometimes. Still, I wish I could play #007 rounds per month.

For varying reasons I just took 5 weeks of from golf. Weather turning cold, rain, and frustration, were driving me away. Then there was a nice day and I decided to go to the range, and chip & putt later. It all felt good. The ball was going where I aimed it on the range and putting green! The next day my wife asked me why I wasn’t playing golf? I didn’t have an answer! So I drove down to the club. I joined up with a buddy on the 1st tee box and we started a 9 hole adventure. I am a 20 handicap (76 YOA) this season. Back at the car after loading the clubs in the trunk I added up my score. I scored a 44. I am very happy with that. After my muscles recover from walking the course after that long layoff I’ll be right back out there. I’ll be telling myself shoulda been in the low 40’s.

I let the weather dictate my breaks from golf and what shoes I wear. I don’t let it dictate anything else in my life other than those two things though. And some people would say that’s my biggest problem, and I say to them, I wish that was my biggest problem.
